When to use it
Use a comment-to-DM automation when a post, Reel, or launch asks people to comment a word like link, guide, shop, recipe, or list. The public comment creates intent. The DM gives them the link without making you reply by hand all day.
Steps
- 1Connect a professional Instagram account under Settings → Integrations if you have not already.
- 2Open Dashboard, then Automations.
- 3Click New automation.
- 4Choose Send link on keyword.
- 5Select the Link people should receive when LinkStack asks for the destination.
- 6In the workflow, choose the connected Instagram account and the post or Reel you want to watch.
- 7Set the comment keyword, such as link, guide, or shop.
- 8Review the DM and its Link button, then save the draft.
- 9Use another Instagram account to leave a realistic test comment.
- 10Publish the automation when the reply and tracked Link look right.
Keyword tips
- Use short words people can spell from memory.
- Add common variants like link, links, guide, list, code, price, and shop when they fit.
- Avoid one-letter triggers unless you want accidental sends.
- Do not require exact punctuation. People comment fast and weird.
- Use a specific keyword for giveaways or launches so normal comments do not trigger the flow.
DM tips
- Send the thing first. Save the long pitch for later.
- Use a Link so country routing, device behavior, and analytics stay attached.
- Keep the DM short enough to read without opening a wall of text.
- Use a button when the next action is a tap.
- Test the Link on mobile before sending traffic to it.
When a post takes off
- LinkStack queues comment-triggered private replies per connected Instagram account instead of firing the full spike at Meta.
- The queue uses a conservative 600-per-hour pace with short burst headroom, below Meta's stated 750-per-hour private-reply limit.
- If Meta still returns a rate limit, LinkStack automatically requeues that reply with backoff.
- Queued replies appear as Pending in recent automation activity. They are not counted as sent until Instagram accepts them.
- A queued reply is skipped if its one-time seven-day private-reply window expires before delivery.

Keep earlier comments in context
Growth can retain unmatched public comments for up to 90 days and bring them into chat after the commenter becomes a contact. Configure Comment Memory under Settings → Integrations. If it is locked, Unlock with Growth opens the in-app upgrade prompt without navigating away.
